(18:24) and 14-year old Sami Harris (21:16) came out on top with wins!

Update!!
The Tallman Track Club has updated the Spring Summer
Series Standings after this weekends Run With a Cop 5K (see
results here).
Right now, Marshall Spradling has a 4-minute lead over
Glenn Baldwin for the guys and Connie Young has just under a 1-minute
lead over Roxanne Carte!

Great profile of Tom. If you have ever been to a road
race in Huntington, you know who this guy is. He is the best at what he
does. If it wasn't for him, we would all be waiting around for an hour
or more for results and awards!

The Run By The River 5K/10K has been going strong for
over 30 years! Tim Gearhart, race director, is ready for this year's
race to be bigger then last year's!
Event the radio is getting in on the event! Check this out to listen to
Race Director Pat Riley, Jason Pyles, and Chuck Angel talk about the
race!

Another great article about the WV 5K that is coming up
this weekend!! This is going to be the biggest race in Huntington!!
Great story in the Charleston Gazette. This is the reason
behind the Ricky Campbell 5K that will be held in November!
One minor correction to the article, there are well over
300 pre-entered now!! This run is going to be HUGE!
This is a must-see if you plan on coming to Huntington on
Saturday morning. It is important to say that those who are wanting to
take advantage of the free Pasta Dinner at Frankie D's will need to
pickup up their packets at Pullman Plaza Hotel from 4-8PM on Friday June
5th!
This week is going to be AWESOME!!! We have so many good
runners coming down and more are contacting us everyday!! One more
thing, we have a surprise or two for all the runners on June 6, but you
have to be there to see it!!

5/3/09 Pyles' Race in Eugene Oregon
Jason and Marion Pyles (Team Strands) competed in the Eugene
Half-Marathon. Jason Pyles runs 1:11:48 to earn 2nd while Marion
finishes 3rd with 1:21:57!!

With a little over a month away from the biggest race to hit Huntington
since the Huntington Distance Classic of the 80's and 90's, the entries
are starting to come in. The prize list has been posted on the site.
Make sure to get your entries in soon!
This is an awesome article about the Charleston Distance Run. It looks
like they have seen that their race may be obsolete. However, it is a
great race, they may want to take the hills out and watch the thing grow
big time. They have a great opportunity to bring in a MAJOR race to our
area. We at TriStateRacer.com hope that they will lose the hills and
allow for a fast course that not only attracts thousands of runners but
elites as well.

6/28/09 Day 4 Recap from Eugene
Matt
Schiffbauer of Marshall U. places 5th in the Jr. National 1500m Run at
Hayward Field in Eugene, OR. Facing a very strong head wind on the back
stretch, Schiffy was able to run a 3:52.65 to earn him 5th place in the
country! He now holds a Jr. All-American title!

running is great and this definetly is Track Town, USA. I will most

Briefly
though, Matt Shiffbauer of Marshall University ran the 1500 today and
took 5 seconds off of his PR to run 3:50. 95 to finish 3rd in his heat
and qualify for the finals tomorrow. He will be running at 3:15 PST
(6:15 EST). Check out the pictures from the day below!

We are
now in Eugene, OR. I don't get star struck very often but when you are

Nationals. Local runners include Matt Shiffbauer (MU) in the 1500 and

Rumors
are going around that Shiffbauer has ran a 2:59 1200 on the track at WVU!
This could mean that he is in good enough shape to go 3:45 for the 1500
and gives him a legit shot at the 1500 Jr. National Title! The best
seeded time is 3:48.33. This will be exciting to watch! He recently ran
15:19.7 at the WV 5K Championship!

we couldn't keep a daily recap going. We thought we could, but it didn't
happen. We did watch all of the races and if you missed them, then you
missed out on some GREAT distance races!
Anyway,
here is the local stuff:
WVU's Clara Grandt finishes 4th in the nation in the 10,000m Run to earn
All-American Honors.
Marie-Louise Asselin drops out of the 5K Final (No word on what happened
yet).
Chelsea
Carrier has a strong showing in the 110H but doesn't get into the
finals.

Local
Runner (Hurricane, WV) Chuck "Bubby" Dent uses the WV 5K Championship on
June 6, 2009 as a qualifier for the National Masters Championships that
will be held in OshKosh, Wisconsin. He ran an amazing 15:58 at the age
of 42 to qualify.

Megan Metcalfe will be racing for the first time since the Olympics
(Well there was this thing about racing a horse, but we won't count
that!). Megan has brought Keri Bland and Kaylyn Christopher to race with

American Meet that Usain Bolt will compete in this year.
