Recap of Santa's Summer Run and Elf Walk

This past weekend Santa was seen running through the streets of Piketon, Ohio.  He was joined by several other runners and walkers taking part in the first annual “Santa’s Summer Run and Elf Walk”.  Over $2,000 was raised for the “Christmas Gifts for Children” program.  Runners came from as far away as Texas, Florida and Illinois to participate in the run.  They said that this was the only run they had ever been to that was decorated like Christmas in the summer and where they received complimentary Snow Cones after the race.

John Haler of Mansfield, Ohio and Amanda Burton of Waverly, Ohio were the top male and female finishers.  A group of runners from Ironton High School, led by Adam Stumbo, Levi Runyon and Colleen Walker won the High School Challenge trophy.  The best Christmas themed runners went to Charlie Sapp (Santa) , Kriston Lang and Colin Downey, all of Waverly.
