Tired of running on the treadmill? Ready to test your winter training? The 5th Annual 5K for Developmental Disabilities Awareness always opens up the 5K season.

The money raised from the event helps local people provide a sheltered workshop, community employment, adult activities such as arts and crafts, recreation and rehabilitation.

The benefactor of the event, The Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities, provides services and support to children and individuals living with disabilities in Lawrence County.

Over 150 people each year come out and kick butt through the open roads in South Point!

The LCBDD provides the Open Door School which provides school-age education to children and adolescents, and Adult Services and Support, including a sheltered workshop, community employment, adult activities such as arts and crafts, recreation and habilitation.

Programs under the LCBDD include the Early Childhood Center, which provides early intervention and preschool education to children.
