Jingle Bell Run Jingles their way to $50k
By: Kayla Dodd
There are 530,000 people in West Virginia living with arthritis and 1,600 of those are children. 36% of all West Virginians have a form of arthritis or related disease. That is 36% which is the highest in the nation. The CDC has listed arthritis as the leading cause of disability. On December 17, the Arthritis Foundation-Jingle Bell Run hosted the Jingle Bell Run 5k in Charleston, WV and raised over $50,000!!!
Proceeds from the race help to fund research to find a cure. The funds are also used to support juvenile arthritis camps, family days, juvenile arthritis power packs (free backpacks with resources to children and teens living with arthritis) , the Better Living Toolkit (a free packet of information including the Arthritis Today magazine, health tracker and brochures to individuals living with arthritis), as well as, many more valuable resources!
TSR and the race committee would like to THANK each and every one of the participants, sponsors and ALL other individuals involved for your support and assistance with the 2016 Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run. We had a successful event and could not have done it without the commitment and sacrifice from all of you.
The goal for this years event was $60,000 and $54,209 has been raised so far. We still have until December 31, 2016 to reach our goal!! Please encourage your team members, colleagues, friends and family to continue to strive to reach for it. We can fight arthritis together! Donations are accepted online at www.jbr.org/charlestonwv.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
