TSR Runner of the Week-Eden Hodges-McGuffin

By: Kayla Dodd

Congratulations to TSR Runner of the Week, Eden Hodges-McGuffin!! She has been on her running journey for over 5 years now and is loving it! Her first race was in March of 2012 in Ironton, Ohio and was the Bobcat Hustle 5k. She holds a current 5k PR of 26:41! Eden’s current running goals consist of setting new PR’s for herself in several race distances: 3 miler, 4 miler, 5 miler, 10k and a half marathon.

Eden’s biggest motivation to run is her husband and children. “I also run for good mental and physical health.” She is currently working on completing the Barboursville Winter Series races, with the last race (5 miler) of the series being completed next Sunday, February 12th! She is also participating in a 2017 virtual race this year!

Her favorite running/motivational quote is, “One run can change your day, many runs can change your life.” Eden’s best experience from running has been being able to not only set new goals for herself, but being able to accomplish them. Being able to push herself mentally and physically through running have truly changed her life.

Her favorite brand of running shoes are Saucony’s and her favorite piece of running gear is her Garmin running watch. Her furthest race distance has been 26.2 miles, which she completed at the Marshall Marathon in 2013.

When asked what advice she would give to a beginner runner, she said, “You will need a village to help you at times but never give up.” Running pushes us both mentally and physically, but running groups and running friends can make this journey so much better!

Running has benefitted and changed Eden’s life both mentally and physically. “I am much healthier and it has been and continues to be a relationship strengthener for my husband and me.” Congratulations to Eden on all of her running accomplishments, Team TSR will see you at the finish line!
