TSR Runner of the Week-Chris Reese
By: Kayla Dodd
Congratulations to our TSR Runner of the Week, Chris Reese. He is not just your average runner, but also a tri-athlete!! He has been on his running journey since 2015, which is also the year that he did is first half marathon. After this, he was hooked!
Chris said that the following year his training increased and his goals that he had for himself grew. “In 2016, I completed my first half Ironman in Raleigh, NC. I also completed my first full Ironman North Carolina, also known as the Beach to Battle, which is also where I ran my first full marathon.” Two weeks after all of this, he ran the Marshall Marathon.
Running, in general, has not only brought Chris to better health but has surrounded him with great friends and unforgettable memories. “Running with a group is the best part about running!” His must have item for his runs is body glide, which he says is a must have item for ALL runs. For shoes, he is still searching for a pair that keeps his toes from getting blisters on the tips of his toes.
So far this year, he has already ran his first 50k and he has his sights set on The Flying Pig Marathon, Ironman Raleigh and Ironman Louisville. “My best piece of advice I could give to anyone wanting to start running is do it for yourself, take care of you and remember a PR is a PR for a reason. You are running against yourself, so do it for you and no one else.”
A job well done to Chris on all of his runner achievements. While he has only been running since 2015, he has accomplished great things and pushed himself to a whole new level. He has bettered his health and made awesome friends. Team TSR will see you at the finish line.
