The race will begin at the 3rd base entrance of Appalachian Power Park on Smith Street and wind through the East End of Charleston to the intersection of California Avenue and Kanawha Boulevard (at the State Capitol) and back again to Appalachian Power Park.Entry Fees

- Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finisher and the top three male and female finishers in each age group for the 5.29K run. The overall winners will not be eligible for awards in their age groups. - The awards ceremony will take place at Appalachian Power Park, under the third baseline awning, once official race results are recorded. The SMART5.29K Run/Walk is presented by the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office and Mission West Virginia, in partnership with Braley & Thompson, Childrens Home Society of West Virginia, KVC, NECCO, and Pressley Ridge. The SMART5.29K raises money to establish SMART529 College Savings Plans for children recently adopted out of the foster care system in West Virginia. All proceeds from the 5.29K registration (minus race fees) and sponsorships, are deposited into SMART529 College Savings Accounts. The accounts are awarded to children adopted from foster care, through a selection process administered by Frameworks and Mission West Virginia.
