June 21 is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.  It's the day with the most light and it's the day the Alzheimer's Association calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer's disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support and research.  By running or walking in the Light the Way 5K Glow Run & Walk, you are helping the more than 38,000 West Virginians and their 106,000+ caregivers stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and lead the way to the first survivor. 

Get ready for a terrific Friday night in Hurricane!  Light the Way 5K Glow Run & Walk is designed for people of all ages and athletic abilities with runners, walkers, strollers, and pets on a leash. 

Wear your brightest clothes and we’ll take care of the rest!  Glow sticks, bracelets, and other neon paraphernalia will be provided for participants at the Registration table.  You’ll be a glowing example of the dedication to light the way to find the first survivor of Alzheimer’s disease.  There will be directional help along the route, with glowing markers and volunteers helping light the way. Our start and finish area will be positively glowing – a perfect photo opportunity for you and your team!

It's perfect for friends wanting to start the evening off with the best party of the night AND families looking for an early evening activity for all ages.

• Trinity Yoga of WV will lead an exhilarating pre-race yoga session at Hurricane City Park 6:00-7:00 pm for a $5 donation to the Longest Day.
• 5K begins at 9:30pm
• This is a chip-timed race, but anyone wanting to run or walk for enjoyment is welcome.
• You will receive your chip timing device and race bib at registration. 
• Post-race celebration immediately following the 5K.
