The race begins and ends at Holzer Sycamore Branch. The course runs along the OO McIntyre Park District Holzer Clinic Bike Trail and is fully paved.

Charity Information

A Heart Like Ava is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity established in honor and memory of Ava Mae Lasseter. Ava was born with several complex congenital heart defects and spent her entire life in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and/or the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati. She passed away on May 23, 2014 at six months of age following a complicated open heart surgery.

     Congenital heart defects (CHDs) affect 1 in every 110 babies born in the United States. This equates to approximately 40,000 babies every year. Like Ava, thousands of these babies do not survive to their first birthday and thousands more die before reaching adulthood. In most cases, the cause of CHDs remains unknown. A Heart Like Ava is dedicated to providing assistance  to families of children with CHDs, spreading CHD awareness, and contributing funds to CHD research. 100% of the proceeds from the A Heart Like Ava 5K will be used for these purposes. To date, AHLA has donated over $50,000 with $37,500 going directly to CHD research.This year we are honored to directly support the research efforts of Ava’s primary cardiologist, Dr. Bryan Goldstein & his team with the Congenital Catheterization Research Collaborate (CCRC).

Registration begins at 8 am, race starts at 9 am! 

Hot chocolate, bottled water, fruit, & snacks will be provided. Come join us! Help us honor Ava and all of our Heart Warriors & Angels and support CHD research efforts! 

There will be multiple items raffled off after the race.  Tickets will be $10 for 10 tickets or $20 for 25 tickets.

We will also have a toy drive the morning of the race in celebration of Ava's 6th birthday. Toys collected will be donated to children in the heart units at CCHMC.  Bring any new toy and we will put you into a drawing for a basket of items from some of our favorite local places.
