FREE Glow Run for Recovery 2019 - National Recovery Month Event

Course

“You don’t have to run to have fun!”

We are using the Charleston Parkrun course, starting at Magic Island running down to Drug Emporium and back to circle the riverside park before the finish line. Course will be marked with orange cones and volunteers cheering you along the way. 

Entry Fees

FREE Registration! We are keeping the event free so local recovery housing participants can come. We are selling T-shirts for $10 each. We recommend pre-ordering your shirt to get a specific size. We will be selling them at the event.

Age Groups

18-30 male and female winner will get a medal
30-40 male and female winners will get a medal
40-50 male and female winners will get a medal
50-60 male and female winners will get a medal
60+  male and female winners will get a medal 

We also have a kids fun run, with prizes for little ones
4 and under
5-6 year olds,
7-9 year olds,
9-12 year olds
 

Awards

We have a local blacksmith artist, Jonathan Hill, hand designing our medals for our winners. 

Charity Information

This is an awareness event focusing on collaborative relationships between the various Substance Use Disorder treatment and recovery programs in Charleston. All checks will be written out to Recovery Point WV, and any extra monies will go to the newly forming nonprofit (501c3) of the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences. We are a new certification agency for recovery housing operations across the state. We are helping programs to implement the NARR -National Alliance of Recovery Residences- standards.

FREE Glow Run 5k,a family friendly activity where participants can run OR walk the beautiful new walking path along the Kanawha River (from Magic Island to Drug Emporium and back.) We want to show people new to recovery that sober events can be fun! September is National Recovery Month, when we celebrate people living in long-term recovery. WE welcome everyone to get together and celebrate our newfound way of life! We will be inviting local recovery housing residents. This is a completely FREE event focused on awareness of RECOVERY and fighting stigma against people with Substance Use Disorders. Individuals in ALL walks of life welcome! Come out and enjoy this FAMILY FRIENDLY event.
