48th Annual Kiwanis Run By The River

Downtown - Russell, KY

Course

The race course starts in front of the Russell Fire Station, then goes on Bellefonte Street to Clinton Street where it turns toward the Ohio River. The run follows the Riverside Drive to Houston Street, then left to Etna Street, right to Ferry Street, left to Bellefonte and right toward the river road and Worthington.

5K Runners turnaround on the River Road and return to Russell. 10K runners proceed to and around Worthington then back to Russell. The finish line is at the Russell Senior Center.

The course is flat and on blacktopped streets.

Entry Fees

Preregistration is open now through midnight Wednesday June 11, 2025 with a cost of $30.

After that and on race day the cost is $35.

Age Groups

Age groups start with 9 and under; then run in five year increments starting with 10-14 and to 80 and over.

Awards

Trophies are awarded to the overall winner and runnerup, both male and female, in both the 5K and 10K raes.

Medals are awarded to all participants 9 and under.

First, second and third place medals are awarded in all other age groups in both the 5K and 10K races, both male and female. Finisher medals are given to walkers.

All paid participants will receive a Run By The River T-shirt by mail approximately 10 days after the race.

Medals are given on race day as soon as results are available.

Charity Information

Races are sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of East Greenup County, Ky. and funds raised are used for community and youth projects, including food baskets at Thanksgiving for at least 50 families, sponsorship of Key Clubs at Russell and Raceland-Worthington High Schools, scholarships to Key Club seniors at each school every year, donations to the Greenup Library's summer reading program and contributions to Shop with a Cop programs at Christmas.
