Funds raised during this event will go toward improvements at the Upshur County Recreational Park and other county parks and trails. Specifically, we would like to create a map of the park and trails, do some trail maintenance, and install bike racks at the Upshur Recreational Park.

This event is part of the 1st Annual Buckhannon-Upshur Hometown Summer Blast, which will feature a pool party and sports expo Saturday evening and triathlon Sunday morning. You will be asked to enter your estimated time for a 450-meter(150M for youth race) swim with your registration.

Plan to arrive at the Upshur County Pool Pavilion by 7:15 AM for the Pre-Race Meeting – attendance is required of all racers, as that is when we will go over the race course and how the pool swim will work.

Registration will be under the Pool Pavilion near the Concession Area. There will be a Welcome Tent with Greeters who can direct you to the pool from the high school parking lot if you are not familiar with the park. The pool is directly behind Buckhannon-Upshur High School.

Transition Zone will be behind the Pool Pavilion adjacent to the Baseball Field and will close at 7:45 AM, please be sure you are ready to line up at that time.

7:45 AM               All racers should be at lineup area near the diving boards.

8:00 AM               Race Begins!

There will be water stations at the transition zone, the bike course at the airport, the run course, and the finish line.

Safety – There will be an EMT onsite at the park and HealthNet will have a water and first aid station at the airport. In addition, 5 Upshur County police officers will be positioned at the intersections along the bike race. The lifeguards at the pool are all trained in first aid and CPR, as well as lifeguard training.

Following the race, fruit, smoothies, cookies and donuts will be available to the racers.

If you are bringing family and friends, let them know that they will have the chance to ride the bike smoothie machine and make a bike-powered smoothie! The suggested donation is $5.00 and all donations will go toward the fundraiser for the park.
