Guts and Glory Mountain Challenge

Course

Starting at Huntington High Schools' own Huntington Hill this course will include three phases.  Racers will complete a 3 mile wooded trail run, 2 challenge initiatives within Huntington High ROTC challenge course, finishing with a 1 mile off-road trail run.  

All participants have the option of registering for the King of the Hill 5k; a down and up 3.1 mile race on the HILL  This is open to everyone.  Course is on paved road.

Entry Fees

10 and under-non competitive:  Free (does not receive chip timing and not eligible for overall awards.  Racers will participate in a mini race that will be timed, but not placed.)

10 and under-competitive:  $10.00 (Racers will participate in the actual race, receive bib/chip timing/and complete all portions of the race.  Eligible for awards.)

Adults-Pre Race:  $35.00

Adults-Day of Race:  $45.00

King of the Hill-Pre Race:  $10.00

King of the Hill-Day of Race:  $15.00

10 and under-competitive:  will be categorized within 11-19 age group

Adults:

  • King of the Mountain-Overall Male Finisher
  • Queen of the Mountain-Overall Female Finisher
  • 1st/2nd/3rd place for female and female in each age category

King of the Hill 5k:

  • King of the Hill/Queen of the Hill-Overall Male and Female Finishers
  • Prince of the Hill/Princess of the Hill-Overall 2nd Place Male and Female Finishers
  • Duke of the Hill/Duchess of the Hill-Overall 3rd Place Male and Female Finishers

Charity Information

The Guts and Glory Mountain Challenge is being organized through the combined collaboration of the Huntington YMCA Kids in Motion program and River Valley Child Development Services.  Both programs mission is to serve our area youth and promote healthy and active lifestyles.  Working together to improve the health of our youth through fitness, nutrition, and family resources we are able to conitnue making postive impacts on those youth around us.

This one of a kind event will challenge all levels of athletes and fitness enthusiasts.  Whether you are looking to simply challenge yourself with a down and up 5k hill race or the entire duathlon trail run and obstacle course event; this endurance race will dare you to find your inner soldier and athlete.
