Course

When does a planned 8K Run/4K walk turn into a 5K Run/1K walk, when Mother Nature decides to flood out the usually dry creek crossing on the proposed course.  So due to safety issues, which would mean crossing a creek that for some would be waist deep, Saturday’s Heart Of The Community 8K Run/4K Walk has been reduced to a 5K for runners and 1K for walkers.

The race still begins at 10:00, now at the top of the “Soon to be New” Hurricane Park, with registration starting at 8:45 am.  The directions to the new starting area, travel on Main St. through the city of Hurricane, turn left on Harbor Lane, follow signs to Cherry St, turn left and follow the road (and signs) to the left of Hurricane Town Elementary.  The entrance to the course is at the end of the road, parking attendants will assist you.  The registration table and start will be right there.

The grass line course was freshly moved on Wednesday in preparation of the race. 

8K Course Description - The grass course will be set up on the 35 acres that will soon be the site of the new Hurricane Park.  The course will be mostly flat with a couple of rolling points and will be clearly marked to lead the runners through the course.
