By: Kayla Dodd

Check out the story behind the man who is raising thousands to help in the fight against childhood obesity. Help Alan Osuch reach his fundraising goal of $3,000.00 to represent the Alliance For A Healthier Generation in the New York City Marathon on November 6th! So far he has $2,565 pledged! He is so close, let's help him blow his goal out of the water!!

THE STORY: Childhood obesity is a national epidemic. Nearly 1 in 3 children (ages 2-19) in the United States is overweight or obese, putting them at risk for serious health problems. If obesity among kids continues at the current rate, this generation could become the first in American history to live shorter lives than their parents. The Alliance For A Healthier Generation wants to make sure that doesn’t happen. They work with schools, companies, community organizations, healthcare professionals, and families to transform the conditions and systems that lead to healthier kids. Their goal is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and to empower kids to develop lifelong, healthy habits. Founded by the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation, they are collaborative change-makers working to create a nation where children thrive. They collaborate with and empower people and leaders to transform the environments that can improve a child’s health.
