Charity Information

Then Community Foundation of Jackson County:

Charity Challenge is a special Run & Fun Walk Benefit and Matching Program designed to raise funds collaboratively and build community awareness for the many important programs and projects produced by the non-profit organizations serving our community. The Charity Challenge Run & Walk Benefit will take place on September 30, 2017 in Ravenswood, WV.

Approximately twenty Jackson County non-profit organizations will be selected to participate in the Charity Challenge. Each participating non-profit organization will be raising funds for a specific community program – for example Habitat for Humanity may raise funds to support its local home building projects. At the same time, the Community Foundation’s volunteers will be raising matching dollars from businesses and individuals through sponsorship support.  Sponsorship funding creates a matching challenge grant pool for the non-profits and the Jackson County Community Support Fund.  With one donation, sponsors support 20 local charities and their community programs and projects. Following the Run & Walk event a Community Celebration Benefit will be held on October 19th with Rocky Bleier, renowned Pittsburg Steeler & celebrated Vietnam War Veteran to honor sponsors and award grants to participating non-profit organizations.  This event and private VIP reception is sponsored by the Dickirson Community Fund, the Constellium CARES Charitable Fund & _______?_____.  The VIP sponsors reception will be held from 5:30-6:00pm prior to the “” Community Benefit, giving sponsors to the 2017 Charity Challenge Program (at the levels listed below) an invitation to join our national acclaimed special guest for a private reception.
â–ªDonors who give $2,500-$4,999 will receive 2 tickets to a private VIP reception

The Charity Challenge Run & Walk is held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 as a finale to the community’s fundraising efforts. One month later on October 19th, a Community Celebration Benefit will be held to award funding to the 20 participating nonprofits and celebrate the program’s success.

Sponsors making a donation of $2,500 or more ($2,500-$4,999 =2 VIP tickets and $5,000+ =4 VIP tickets) will be given the opportunity to attend a private reception with Rocky Bleier from 5:30-6:00 p.m. prior to the Community Celebration Benefit.  Sponsorship costs and benefits are outlined on the attached pages. Are WV Tax Credits available for sponsors?  In the spring and fall, West Virginia NIP tax credits (if available) can be awarded to sponsors for support of these charitable programs. Tax credits provide individuals and businesses with a great incentive to give to the Community Support Fund. Donors can receive a tax credit of fifty cents for each dollar donated for donations of $500 - $5,000. This tax credit is deducted directly from the taxes owed to the state of WV. The program was designed by the state to encourage charitable giving at a community level.  Tax credits are available to donors on a first come first served basis until the credits are exhausted.
